Our Winter Sing is tomorrow, December 14th.  The performance will take place at the Claremont United Church of Christ Congregational located at 233 Harrison Ave.  Please arrive at 6:15 p.m. to meet your child’s teacher.  The students will remain in their assigned seats, with their teachers, for the entire performance. All students will be singing a song for the grand finale.   At the end of the performance, we will dismiss each class one at a time. It is important to be respectful of all performances and stay out of the aisles during the show.   Please remember that you may not bring any food or drinks into the church.

Next week is Digital Citizenship Week.  Vista along with other CUSD Schools will be doing activities and messages about digital citizenship.  We know that our students must be able to use technology in their daily lives, but we also want them to be safe and responsible as they interact in the digital age.  Attached you will find a flyer about the week and the CUSD 2017 Digital Citizenship Week and a Media Festival.

Finally, please join us for the dedication mural dedication in Wheeler Park at 9:00 am.  Vista students played a major part of the design and painting of this beautiful mural.  It would be wonderful to have you stop in and celebrate with us.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Brad Cuff

Dear Vista Families,

Vista is honored to have the support of Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF) every year. CEF continues to fund art and music in grades K-6, in addition to providing technology hardware and software upgrades at all campuses.

This year, Vista will take part in The 1st Annual CEF Chocolate Walk! We will have a display table with pictures of students in action using technology, as well as participating in music and art. Since chocolate is the theme of the walk, our chocolate walk committee thought it would be cool to display artwork made out of actual chocolate. For example, you can make/sculpt an instrument, IPad, animal, character or whatever you would like using chocolate. If you would like to participate in making art out of chocolate please, submit your piece to Mrs. Slaughter by Tuesday, October 3rd. All pieces submitted will be displayed at our Vista table for all of Claremont to see. We will have prizes for the most unique and creative pieces, so let your creative mind explore the world of chocolate.

Dear Sixth Grade Parents,

All sixth grade students must have an additional Tdap vaccination in order to enter the seventh grade.  Your child may have had this vaccination, so please bring your immunization records to the Vista del Valle Health Office.  If you are unsure, please contact your child’s doctor.  Junior High registration is around the corner and we do not want this to interfere with your registration.  If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Curley in the Vista Health Office.

This year students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will participate in our Invention Convention.  Students will brainstorm, design, and create an invention of their own.  This is a long term project that requires planning and we ask that you begin talking to your child about this project now.  Students will have to come up with an idea, sketch what it will look like, identify the materials needed, build the invention, and make a tri-fold presentation board to present the invention.  This project requires a great deal of time, thinking, and presentation skills (written, verbal, and creative). Please ask your child for his or her invention project packet and review the timeline and due dates.   The Vista Invention Convention takes place on March 2nd.  While this seems like a long way off, it is important that your child get to work on this right away.  The Invention Student Packet is attached and available for download from our website in the Newsletter Folder.
