All students at Vista del Valle attend music class. Kindergarteners through 6th grade have 30 minutes each week.  Students learn music through singing, playing percussion instruments and games, moving, and creating their own music.

Instrumental Music

Our third grade students learn to play the recorder during their music class. Not only do these students learn to play an instrument, they also learn to read music. Students who practice their recorders at home make faster progress. Affordable recorders for purchase are available in music class.

Students in the 4th-6th Grade have the opportunity to play an instrument through the CUSD Elementary Instrumental Music Program (EIMP). Students playing beginning band instruments (flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone). Students playing beginning string instruments (violin, viola and cello).  Students in their second or third year of instrumental instruction meet after school in several locations.

All students enrolled in this program perform in two concerts at El Roble during the year.

Vista Orchestra

String students at Vista del Valle play in the Vista Orchestra which meets during lunch recess on Wednesdays. Vista Orchestra performs every year at the Winter Sing in December and in May in a joint concert with the 3rd Grade Recorder Students.
